Ethylene Propylene Diene
Monomer. Not the easiest name to
remember and that is why
everyone today uses the more
common name EPDM.
EPDM synthetic rubber has been
around since the 1960’s. That’s
over 40 years of protection for
flat roofs and it is still going
strong today.
More and more households and
businesses have come to realise
that EPDM synthetic rubber is
the solution to their flat roof
problems. |
Benefits of EPDM
-
EASY INSTALLATION:
Systems typically fitted as single sheet
(subject to survey).
-
SAFER AND COST EFFECTIVE INSTALLATION:
EPDM rubber roofing systems do not
require the use of dangerous bitumen
burning pots or torches. With this,
insurance premiums are lower and so this
cost saving can be passed on to our
customers. EPDM requires very little to
no maintenance.
-
SUPERIOR WEATHERABILITY AND DURABILTY:
Due to its composition, essentially
carbon black and EPDM polymers, EPDM
offers unmatched resistance to ozone, UV
radiation, and ultimately ageing. It is
designed to outlast all conventional
roofing materials. EPDM has been used
under a wide range of climate
conditions, from the sun of Arizona and
the Middle East to the arctic conditions
of Alaska and Northern Europe.
-
HIGH FLEXIBILITY AND ELONGATION:
EPDM remains flexible at temperatures up
to –45ºC and can elongate over 300% to
accommodate building movements and
temperature fluctuations.
-
ENVIRONMENTALLY FRIENDLY:
EPDM is an inert material with limited
environmental impact during
manufacturing.
